About Representative Carl Isett

When Carl Isett was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1996 he was already growing his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) practice and moving up in the ranks of the United States Navy – Reserve Component. His background as a CPA, his educational background as a double major in accounting and finance and a Master of Science in finance allowed him to quickly distinguish himself as someone who could work through complex issues and "understand the numbers."
Representative Isett uses the knowledge, experiences and relationships that were developed in his seven terms of service in the Texas Legislature to represent clients before the legislature and state agencies. He was the ranking majority member to the House Insurance Committee and carried the Insurance Commission Sunset legislation when he chaired the Sunset Commission during the contentious 81st Legislative Session.
He currently represents, and has represented, a broad spectrum of organizations from independent businesses and non-profit organizations to multi-national corporations. This includes two Fortune top 20 companies, one in technology and one in financial services. His breadth of understanding of the legislative process and history afford him the ability to work with both sides of the aisle and all three branches of Texas government for outcomes that are in the best interest of Texas and his clients.
Representative Isett chaired several committees and was elected by his peers to chair the two largest non-partisan caucuses in the Texas House. The Texas Conservative Coalition worked across the aisle to craft and support public policy in the best interest of Texas. The Texas Sportsman Caucus worked to ensure future generations of Texans enjoy our heritage of the great outdoors. In this capacity Chairman Isett was also elected to serve on the state branch of the Congressional Sportsman Caucus, the National Assembly of Sportsman Caucuses. He worked with other legislators from around the country to liaison with the U.S. Congress on how proposed legislation or federal agency rule would affect the several states.
Representative Isett believes that being an elected official made him a better Naval Officer and being a Naval Officer made him a better legislator. A graduate of Texas Tech University with a MS in Finance, Mr. Isett served as Commanding Officer - Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) at the Distribution Depot, Kandahar Afghanistan, overseeing all operations of the only DLA Distribution Depot ever located within an active war zone. Mr. Isett has distinguished himself as well serving seven terms in the Texas House of Representatives representing the 84th House District of Lubbock. Mr. Isett performs broad spectrum political affairs consulting and analysis to assist his clients in accomplishing their legislative goals.
